Installing The Movies and Stunts & Effects on Windows Vista
The Movies and the expansion pack The Movies: Stunts & Effects were made for
the following Windows versions; 98SE/ME/2000/XP. With Windows Vista coming out soon
and a lot of people already using one of the beta versions, we decided to put
a walkthrough together of how to install The Movies and The Movies: Stunts &
Effects on Windows Vista:
On inserting The Movies and/or S&E (The Movies: Stunts & Effects) disc,
Vista will display an error message (see error 1).
Error 1
|
You can ignore this error message and run the ‘setup.exe' file manually from the
disc. The Setup.exe can be found on the disc through Explorer.
After running the setup, Vista will come up with another error (see error 2) telling
you the program has known compatibility issues. This can be ignored by clicking
on ‘Run program' and the installation will continue as normal.
Error 2
|
After the installation of the game itself; the installer will tell you that Windows
Media Technologies is blocked due to compatibility issues. This error can be cancelled
(see error 3) as Windows Vista already has Windows Media Player included as standard.
Error 3
|
The same goes for the installation of DirectX 9.0 which you have to cancel as well.
Windows Vista has DirectX 10 installed so there is no need to install DirectX 9.0.
Now you can run the game as normal from the desktop shortcut.
