The Movies Online has five main parts!

Every director needs to upload his/her movies!

Every registered user with a copy of The Movies can upload his/ her movies made by the game onto the website. This is of course the most important side of The Movies&trade Online! Without it, we wouldn't have a place for directors to share their own creations. If you upload a movie, you can acquire Virtual Online Money which in turn you can spend in the Prop Shop to buy extra content for your game!

Lionhead Studios are planning for this Prop Shop to contain loads of things; from complete sets and locations to small ornaments and items, all these can be used in the game. The better your movies are the more Virtual Online Money you can spend and the more extra stuff you can buy to make new movies.

Apart from earning Virtual Online Money with your uploaded movies, you also have the chance to compete against others in the Charts! It's like the box office, each with different criteria; such as per genre, studios and overall; which includes every movie. Then there are different Charts for each of the five genres of movies and all studios compete in the Studios Chart. This Chart takes all your movies into account to give you a position in it. By the end of each month the top 25 of every Chart will see their efforts rewarded!

Each player will also have his/ her own personal studio page; this is like a profile or website that lists all your movies and much more!

We all need to be watching these Movies!

People can watch movies - free of charge - on The Movies&trade Online. Registered members can also give a rating and leave a comment; this will then be reflected in the Charts. There's a very complicated system behind the movie ratings; which (luckily) makes it impossible to cheat. You can get Virtual Online Money and reputation in all kind of ways, but we kept it as fair as possible.

There are different possibilities to find a movie you want to watch. There's a list of the most recently uploaded movies on the frontpage and there are the Charts; where you can see the highest rated ones. But the website also has a search button to find a specific movie on keywords, genre, actors, etc in the entire movie database. This is ideally if you're looking for a specific genre, romance for example to play, for when your girlfriend comes to visit!

Each movie has its own page with all details such as the title, author, awards won, comments from other players and much more. You watch the movie on that page through streaming or you can download the file onto your computer to watch it later!

Prop Shop: You download it!

Members who has obtained Virtual Online Money by uploading movies and winning awards can buy new props in the Prop Shop. It's divided in different categories; such as sets and scenes, but also backdrops and costumes. You can buy anything to expand your game, if you have earned enough money of course! It will be easy to sort a category by price, so you don't have to search long for the cheapest items or the most expensive items. There will also be promotions for certain items and special props on certain days, like Christmas.

Charts & Competitions: You win it!

The Community Website has the same Charts system as the game. In total there are 8 Charts: for stars, studios, the overall Chart and one for each of the five film genres. Other players can vote for your movies and the more votes, the higher you will appear in the Charts! Every month the top three studios and movies within every Chart, will receive awards; from unique downloadable content to more space to host your movies. The remaining top 22 will receive virtual medals for their achievement which can be used on the Studio page. In addition the three top movies will be archived. Movies or studios have no restrictions in how many times they can receive awards and it will be entirely up to the community to determine which movies and therefore studios should stay in the top 25.

The Actors Chart is a list of the Top 25 Actors in all movies calculated by the success of their movies in the Movie Chart. So to get your actor in the top of the Chart you'll have to cast him in your best movies as the lead role.

And you have the competitions, where players can gain more recognition for their work and for their movies to be seen by industry professionals. The competitions are not regular reoccurring events; the entry requirements and the judging are flexible and can be defined individually for each competition. There's a list of all judges, rules and requirements for each competition but we'll keep this entire scheme of competitions secret for now.

My Studio Page: is where you will find out.

Every player has his/ her own studio page which displays all the current, removed and archived movies, awards won and their prize-winning movies. You can perform some extra actions on your personal Studio Page; like removing a movie to get more space to upload a new one, change the studio description, download awards into the game or submit a movie to a competition.

Each Studio has a limited amount of disk space available for his uploaded movies. If he needs more space he needs to remove his movies which means that the video file gets deleted but the movie page itself - and the screenshot - will be kept for historical references. But if your movie won an award, it will be automatically archived by the website. This means it does not take up any more movie space for the studio and it cannot be deleted by the owner. This is to ensure winning movies are always retained on the website, and rewards studios with winning movies by giving them more available space allocation.

These five parts combined, make The Movies&trade Online very important in showing your movies to other people. And because we made the website so open - everyone can watch movies - you get a very big audience! On top of this people who upload the best movies will be able to win really cool prices and most important, they can make their own game experience bigger with more content!
