About the journey

“Fable: The Journey” is a whole new way to experience the deep storyline, heart-pounding action, and picturesque world of Albion that fans have come to know and love about the “Fable” franchise. In Fable: The Journey, you will come to the aid of the ailing and mysterious Theresa, who thrusts you into an action-packed adventure full of dangerous enemies, hair-raising chases and humorous characters.       This is a spin off for Kinect, They are still working on core Fables…saying you’re going to ditch a game company for making an EXTRA game on the side (that you don’t like) seems a knee jerk and silly reaction.

            And how dare you comment on the ‘standards’ of Lionhead. I can’t believe you’re so ignorant to the ways in which the games industry works. Developers are creative. They can’t be expected to pump out the same old shit year on year (hello, Call of Duty…) – Lionhead Studios are unique. They try new things, they always push the limits of what you think a “game” should be.

            You’re not a gamer. You’re a self-entitled git who thinks everyone should do everything just to please YOU.

            But so am I, and I think Journey looks pretty cool, but I don’t have Kinect.
            Not a big deal though because not playing Journey’s not going to affect my experience of any other games.

            Still though, I think Journey looks cool. And that’s coming from a long-time keyboard gamer. I see nothing wrong with motion controls, nor do I see why anyone needs to cry about it.

            I don’t think DanLowers is saying don’t have standards.  I think he is just tired of comments that are reactionary and self-centered.  In the first posts, E.B. disagreed with a comment and in response his comment is called irrelevant, he’s told to “get real” and P. Conlon talks about the standards “we” have for Fable (and while I’m mentioning the reply post, who says ‘bub’ anymore?  How old is P. Conlon??)  Your standards are YOUR standards, not OUR standards.  Please quit assuming you speak for everyone.  Even if you think you are only speaking for serious gamers – you think every single one would agree with you?  Stop it.  (and since you are saying it’s bad…am I to assume you have played Journey then?)

            LH is attempting to appeal to an audience that probably wouldn’t pick up one of the core Fable games.  It’s a business attempting to expand its appeal and sales, just like any other business.  That doesn’t mean they have abandoned their core games.  I’m not even sure why gamers stop in to complain about Journey since it is an EXTRA game…an EXTRA game, EXTRA!  How many times does that have to be said before people quit griping about an EXTRA game?  I doubt I’ll ever buy Journey, but then again I realize that it is a……wait for it……. an EXTRA game. 

            The gaming community is diverse, it isn’t all about hardcore gamers anymore.  Don’t expect to be the target audience for everything all the time.

            And if you’re intention was to voice your opinion about a game you don’t like, then say what you don’t like.  Saying it’s bad or it sucks isn’t very specific.

            Please define the difference between an “EXTRA” and a “REAL” game?  Unless one of them is free…   Appealing to the Kinect audience will leave many long time Fable fans who have no interest in, or physically incapable of playing a motion game feeling cheated of content.   I know one hardcore bedridden Fable fan and this Kinect only business upsets him.   If Lionhead wants to make a Kinect only RPG they should come up with a new game/franchise, not experiment with Fable.

            all they want is money, more specifically our money, so if that means making a game that’s barely good, so they can squeeze a few more million dollars from consumers, they’ll do it, i think that might just be the reason why molyneux is leaving to start another project.
            we all have a love/hate relationship with blizzard and valve, they only have 1 date for the release of games “WHEN IT’S DONE”, and yes, that means we will never see starcraft ghost, diablo 3 is probably going to come out for the playstation 4 and the xbox 1080, and half life 3 will be on the followers of these consoles, but they most likely will be worth the wait.fable: the journey? meh

             You can not tell if a game is good or bad before you play it.  Indeed Eggbert is correct knee jerk reactions which is what happens when anything changes slightly… facebook changes its look.. people scream in terror and run saying the hate it.  After a while they get used to it and life carrys on.  Gaming is the same.  A game changes direction a little or has a new update etc and people panic.  Isnt having something different good anyway?  If you wanted the same thing over and over ..just keep playing fable1 over and over.  Criticism is a good thing when it is constructive.. just saying terrible direction I now hate Lionhead as a developer is neither constructive nor logical.  Also no one here was told they could not hold an opinion.  Dan and Eggbert were also giving reactions and commenting with their own opinion.

             Games have been going down in value for a very long time now. You should know this, all games pretty much play themselves now days, there is no longer any challenge what so ever in any RPG type game, not even the online ones. The only games now days that provide some form of a challenge are the online FPS games and thats not because the game is “awesome” because you playing against other people.

            Developers need to wake up and make a game that is HARD and not just put a “Hard” option in and make the little monsters with me health, it’s fucking pathetic how games are now days, all been made for the dumbed down retarded americans.

            YOU shouldn’t set standards. No, YOU shouldn’t. The company that makes the games and develops and designs games… THEY should set standards. If you don’t like the standards then IGNORING them is the BEST thing you can do. It’s not “magic” that makes them realize a game has gone off course, it’s poor sales. So IGNORING them is perfect. You know what IS magic- YOU reviewing a game you haven’t played. THAT is MAGIC. You did call a game “bad” that you’ve never played so… that’s a skill the other 99.999% of us don’t have.

            I personally find the Sims terrible, but clearly other people enjoy it. ;)

            Your opinion is not fact, it is what it is… an opinion. Shocking, right?

            Concerning Fable: The Journey, it’s a side game. They had a seperate team working on it, and Microsoft was funding it. It’s not like they’re taking time away from core Fable or anything.

            And concerning core Fable itself, Fable 1 and 2 were great games, but clearly Fable 3 didn’t have enough time spent on it, and if you actually spoke to the developers, you’d realise the truth… it’s all Microsoft’s fault.
            Their deadline was too soon and they didn’t have enough time to do what they wanted to do. Not their fault.

            I’m sure after all of the criticism, Lionhead’s managers will correct their mistake and allow a later deadline. However, creating Fable: The Journey is not a mistake, nor are any of the choices that the studio have made mistakes. The ONLY mistake that’s been made is Microsoft setting too strict a deadline.

            Their direction is not terrible in any way. Their concepts are brilliant. One of the developers posted about everything they had planned for Fable 3. They’re all possible and looked amazing. Hopefully, Fable 4 will be made over a longer period of time. ;)

          using the comment system for comments is fine but just saying something is bad without specifics doesn’t help anyone and giving up on a franchise for a spinoff seems rash. the game may be a complete opposite of what YOU expect but I doubt you speak for the entire community. people should criticize things… that’s how they get improved upon. Even if you dislike this one… if you don’t say WHY there’s nothing to stop them from doing the same thing in ALL their games. be specific and when people agree that they also don’t like that particular feature maybe it will get removed from all future games making them better.

          It’s not a ‘new direction’ for Fable. There’s no “4″ anywhere in that title. It’s an offshoot. A side game. Much like Halo Wars was to Halo, this is not the new direction of the franchise. You wanting another Fable is great- but as you’re done with Lionhead (tantrum much?) I guess you won’t be finding out what IS next in the series core story.

        This is in fact a core fable game, as it is Peter Molyneux’s last fable game. BTW the series was ruined by the acorn and many other famous promises Molyneux made to build hype and make money as he knew his creations couldn’t speak for themselves. Remember how exciting Project Milo was, well The Journey is Project Milo and it does nothing that Milo promised. Lionhead and more specifically Peter Molyneux deserve all of the criticism they get.

        I believe it’s not so much the appearance of the game they’re worried about, but the mechanics. Waving your hands/arms around to cast spells and such. The apparent point of view, etc etc. The mechanics of the game differ significantly from previous titles, and so a lot of people are flying off the handle and running around in little circles like the world is about to end.

        No one is really worried about the story. The idea of “making” a hero instead of being born one is interesting; but no one is particularly jazzed about waving their “being the controller” for most of it. Stereotypically gamers are a rather lazy bunch. If we wanted exercise of any kind, we’d play sports, not videogames.

      Agreed. I’m not saying this will be a bad game (although it does just look like one of those games made because the Kinect was there, rather than to actually be a good game, if you know what I mean) but it won’t be a Fable game. Fable is my favourite game series of all time and this just isn’t Fable and shouldn’t be branded as such. I’m just hoping that we get another true Fable game in future, and that this is just a spin-off.

      You are what is wrong with the games industry. You hate developers for trying something new, then most likely complain that other series are being run into the ground by cloning their last game 8 times in a row.

      There will be more “real” Fable games. If you can’t handle the fact that they want to stretch their creative legs every once in a while to try something different, then please keep your knee-jerk reactions to yourself.

    Well at least this looks fairly promising…. Mind you though, I said that with Fable 2 and 3. Siiiiigh. Nothing is ever as good as you expect it to be :/ Fable Lost Chapters was the best, nothing will ever top that.

    PLEASE REMAKE The Lost Chapters! everybody loved the first game and agrees that it was the best and I can assure you that you’ll make way more money out of a remake of the first than “The Journey”, and it could bring back some old memories for pretty much everyone that loved the original.

    Is it really only for the kinect?  I LOVE the Fable games, but I’ve realized each game it’s getting further from what I loved most about the first Fable game. I still find things to like about the other games but its never quite the same. I want to see more magical stuff, fairies or mermaids, hoping that in the future I’ll get a Fable game that’s more like the first.

    I will be really bummed if its only for the kinect. I don’t like that idea at all. I love a controller. Although if its the only option looks like I’ll be buying a kinect.

    To be honest this does look kinda bad Fable is one the best selling game series in the world and i believe one of the reasons for its success is because its not on the Wii and it shouldnt be on the Kinect. It’s NOT that kind of game

    I’m really excited to see where this new game goes! Looks really interesting. I always wondered how they were going to remedy the whole no more heroes thing. I mean it would have been somewhat stale if we just kept playing the same family forever. I think it’s strange people are saying this looks bad. Not sure how people can judge on so little.

    Lionhead, please see this. The first Fable was by far the best one out of the three so far. Your character gains power through life and experience, not just have it trust upon him. I’m positive there is a lot of money you can make if you did a re-make of the first Fable. Just boost the graphics and add a few new quests, and boom. You don’t even need to add new quest. Just remake the graphics (please don’t screw with the fighting system anymore… Fable 3′s almost made me snap the disc….) and you have a new video game. Please hear me out because this is something that I’m sure a lot of people would want.
    P.S. I’m prob going to have to buy a kinect just for this one game V.V oh well.

    But just one sentence assuring us that you are working on Fable 4? Like.. Not even a trailer, not a context, no spoilers. You just literally need to say: “Fable 4 is in development and set for release on the Xth of X”. Honestly it would reassure so many fans.

    I have always defended Lionhead as i love Fable and i don’t mind a Kinect game and i’m sure my kids will love it. But come on i want a Fable 4 and for it to have rpg elements. I liked Fable 3 but my personal favourite is Fable 2 as Fable 3 was very stripped down. Come on get your act together or u will lose fans that have been very loyal!

    I think it’s a good thing when a studio wants to do more with the Kinect system.  There’s no point in having a full-body motion capture interface if it won’t be used to create games where full range of movement will help explore the gameworld; a bunch of exercise titles already exist for this purpose, so why not combine that with story-based adventures?

    Alas, I feel Kinect although fun , is very impractical for gamers like me who have their Xbox in their cluttered bedroom.

    No space = no game… so I haven’t got one, and don’t intend to. :( I was hoping there would be a Fable 4 by now, one that has a legendary storyline like that of Fable 1 oh and Lost Chapters.
    Now I hear it is the end of Albion, the end of the age of heroes :(
    If you make another Fable , perhaps if the age of heroes is over and you’re going to start getting closer to our timeline… you should
    simply make a Fable in the old Kingdom, that would be far more fun and exciting.
    I have always wanted to know more about the old kingdom from which the Hero’s bloodline originates.

    Come on Lionhead your fans have told you we want a game set in the “Fable 1″ or “Fable:The Lost Chapters” setting not this, why are you ignoring all your long time fans as Fable 3 was a joke of a game that seemed thrown together.

    Fable:The Journey seems like a sad attempt to just make a quick buck and the response from fans should tell you this is not what the people giving you money want nor will buy.

    You can do better Lionhead, you put out a great first game in “Fable”, and “Fable:The Lost Chapters”.

    Next core Fable game, Fable: The Guilds collapse. You know we want to see how it happened. Also, what happened to the other Blades? If I recall correctly, there was a Queen and King of Blades as well, which were worse than Jack. And what happened to the sword? And you could also finally explain to the people that killed Theresa why she’s still alive in Fable 2. And where’d Scythe go? Wasn’t he loosely connected to, Archon, the first Hero, the Hero of which the playable character in Fable 1, and every main character since, has been a direct descendant? And where’s the Guild Master gone? Why doesn’t he talk to me anymore? And why do I need gloves to cast spells? I’m supposed to be a hero of legend. They wouldn’t need gloves to channel magic. Also, what if it was finally open world? And we could go back and look at all the zones that have been dropped from the game… Like the islands, Oakvale…. Some nostalgic inclusions. Also, the legendary weapons would be cool to be seen in each game, not all, but maybe the best, and they would be weaker than the new legendaries… Just the inclusion would be cool. Also, the interactions with NPC’s was better in Fable 2 than 3. I appreciate the attempt at improvement, but don’t make the game with the assumption that players have no idea how to play a game.

    With all that said, Fable has been, since my first play of the game, to this moment, my very favourite video game series. And I will continue to play the game for as long as they are being released. Why? Because the designers know that a game needs more than graphics and action. Story and voice acting is essential. But, you guys ditched the best story you had, with the blades family. It’d be cool to see maybe the Queen of Blades, or the King, or both, are behind the darkness… And maybe that they are trying to retake their kingdom that they see as theirs… Wielding the Sword of Aeons… Which forces the Heroes of Old out of hiding… The Guild Master, Scythe, etc, etc. /end of wall.

      I think that the Idea of Theresa being alive if from the theory or separate dimensions, each with a slight change. ‘I see into other worlds’ or something like that. I think that the idea of the gloves is the fact that the hero is getting weaker the smaller percent of his blood is related to the first Archon. I also think that the other blades where killed by the Archon. and if they came back, the plot would not be realistic if you where to kill them, as I said before your getting weaker each game. I do wonder & Think that it would be interesting to see what happened to the ‘Hero of Oakvail’ (you know, the bloke you play as from fable1) as Theresa is alive, why not him? I think personally that Theresa is looking for him, which (also the fact that she can see the future) is the reason she wanted the tattered spire. Or maybe she wanted to kill herself, who knows? however the fact that 2 more games are planned I would hope that they would nicely conclude these questions.

    its good the idea of put fable on kinect, but i most suggest take in action the sword and gun, why? well the magic is awesome, but nothing more that kill the enemies destroying skulls with a hammer cutting heads with the sword, or just kill them at distance with a gun or rifle. Another point is talk with people or just go to the bordellos, i know that the main goal of this title is sape from darkness, but that make the story simple
    anyway  i want this title doesnt dissapoint me

    I have seen the game play demonstration and the opening sequence video and I think that it looks like fun.  It may not be everyone’s preference, but I think that it will be interesting to throw myself a little more fully into the game.  This also seems like a great use of the Kinects abilities.  In fact, I know a whole group of friends who will be very interested in playing this when it comes out. 

    And I really enjoyed Fable 2.   I haven’t started Fable 3 yet though.  I am saving it for the summer.

     Then I suggest that you say the fans you’ve spoken to. I thought Fable 1 was the least enjoyable of the three games, and found 2 and 3 to have much more depth of character. Some of the best NPCs have come out of 2 and 3: Hammer, Reaver, Garth, Paige, Ben Finn, Sir Walter… The only NPC I found really memorable from 1 was Whisper, and even then…

    Fable one was one of the best games ive played there was just something about it that made it special, but ever since then fable has gone terribly wrong, the story, the animation and the rewards, I feel like the game changed so much that the fable that we all fell in love with is no more and these new games are just poor excuses of the original fable. Im just saying that although the gameplay might have gotten better thats not the reason many of us loved fable but for the deep story that we experienced. Although I cant remember much from 2 and 3, I can still see the heroe’s mother getting her throat slit by jack of blades when I think of the first one and how emotional that was, which reminds me how great the game used to be and how much potential the franchise had.

    I trust Peter and the team, I would hope they would have something that is purely for Xbox 360 and not kinect, nothings beats having a controller, come on guys bring the old fable back with new stuff :D Don’t get rid of a good thing!     I’m just wondering if they plan to intergrate Co-op capibilities over Xbox Live With other connect users. Most of my friends like the improvments done for Fable 3 (except all the bugs still lingering to get achievment to trigger without restarting the whole adventure all over again) than what happen for Fable 2.  I still believe the key idea Microsoft has been working for to getting people to play online together around the world.  As for the Kinect Feature, I believe in how Lionhead Studios has a great idea to actually getting players into the world that they are creating and envolving with its enviroments. Kinda like the way how the old Myst games evolved over time. I just hope they can add the option to use the Kinect to scan (series of scan to point facial structors) players actual faces to be played within the Fable world.

      The fans have every right to tell Lionhead they have been going in a bad direction ever since Fable 3 was a screw up and laughable game in this series. Some fans strongly believe that only Fable 1 and Fable:The Last Chapters were great games in this series and it all went down hill after that with Fable 2.

      Long time fans not being happy with what they are doing with “Fable” is the fan base telling them “why are you ruining this series even more, we hate this BS” and they are all right to complain as Lionhead has made every game post Fable 1 have less and less features, content, and choice.

      Fable:The Journey is a pathetic attempt to cash in on kinnect, and from the get go few people liked this idea and when it first was shown got all kinds of negative reactions. Fable:Heroes is a flat out joke as its a kiddy game that mocks almost everything any fan has liked about Fable.

      Point is that when the fans have been against most of your games for 4 years its time to listen to them and give them what they want not keep pissing them off.

         I wasn’t Lionhead’s decision, anyone remember when Microsoft BEGGED for Bungie to add some Kinect features to Reach? Yeah well Bungie just said no. Microsoft couldn’t do anything because the didn’t own them… They we’re in a contract but they didn’t OWN them. The story is different with Lionhead, now it’s either do it or lose your job… what would you choose?

    If kinect is extremely unpopular with 360 users how does Lionhead expect to pull their games back up if they use a the kinect system that no one really likes? just proposing a problem. I mean I Love the fable series but not enough to buy another $250 extension to my game system that i will only use for one game.     This looks fun, good for exercising plus I love the Fable series! I already had a Kinect because we liked the idea of, you are the controller! For all those people who think playing on a Kinect is stupid, you obviously need to stop being lazy and try new things. You actually might like it. Lionhead were obviously trying out new ideas and made a game out of one, and its looks like fun, clearly this game was too keep us focused so we didnt have to wait around for Fable 4 and hopefully that should and will be amazing.     I expected a lot more out of Lionhead after the lack of adventure in Fable 3. But making Fable a Kinect game is just plain horrible. Most of the players expect a hand held gaming experience, but instead is given a disk with a load of bullshit movements to imitate while siting in front of the god damn tv. It’s not only what i want, it’s what the gamers want, and a majority of them want this game to stay hand held. You can’t just jump into something into making every game for kinect right when it comes out! it’s something you need to slowly move into and make it where the gamers are ok with the fact that the game is for just motion.  ACTUALLY MAKE THE GAMES BETTER!

    Peter Molyneux, you have failed your gaming community twice now by over hyping fable 2 and fable 3 making it out to be something greater than it is. While there are certain features to fable 2 and 3 that i do like, the games in their entirety are sub-par at best. The only real success you have had thus far in the gaming community was the first Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters. I’ve wasted over 150 dollars buying the collectors editions of both fable 2 and 3 and will not spend another dime on any Lionhead products unless real change comes to the developing stage of your games. Whether you like it or not, your fans (or at least me) love Fable I and the elements placed into that game. Do not try to over do yourselves by pumping out meaningless games like Fable: The Journey for you will only see the small amount of die-hard fable fans buying this game or little kids who will only buy it because of it’s connect feature, play it for one week, and then drop the game in the trash. You guys have done one thing right so far, and it was Fable I, if you want any more success go back to your original gaming roots and keep the original elements of fable you have made. The weapon customization of fable 3, along with the private and 3-D pause menu you had in fable 3 were very interesting, but not done to it’s best. There is no point of having weapon customization if you can only have X amount of possible weapons that all have major similarities. Fable: The Lost Chapters is the game i fell in love with, and i want to see something similar come out soon. Don’t let me down this time Pete…

    and if they can make a all kinect fable more power to them it means they will have more money for making fable 4 maybe they can make the game take longer then 4 days to beat for me now that is a challenge considering i had skyrim done in 100 hours and they said it was 300 plus hours to beat fully i did every thing i could only thing i had left was the quests that never end skyrim to me was a disappointment i wish they would have stuck with oblivion the quests were way better (hint hint to you lion head) i just hope fable 4 blows me away i have no doubt in my mind i will be blown away but im giving heads up with an example im very picky please dont screw up fable.

    I would need to see more of this before I start to get excited… right now it looks like half of the game is played on the carriage from the video? That doesn’t sound too fun.

    Regardless, despite the the whole “Full Kinect” thing (I am not a Kinect fan by any means) I might still be interested in this given the focus on magic, providing they don’t release it half-baked like Fable II and III were… glitchiest games I have EVER played that were released by a proper development studio… lazy lazy lazy. Don’t make that mistake again, Lionhead. PLEEEEEASE don’t release this game as a buggy glitch-ridden mess.

    Are you sure this isn’t “on the rails”.  I’ll be interested in seeing how it plays, and hopefully it proves me wrong on my opinion.  But for now, it does seem the touch and magic has been lost.  Should really focus on Fable IV, make it a launch for holidays 2013 with the new Xbox.  Just a thought

    They should remake fable the lost chapters. that was by far the best Fable game out there. I miss the horns when you would turn evil or glow when good. Why did they take that out of the game. That was the best feature. Fable 2 was ok but Fable 3 was great in graphics but lacked with story line. Was very boring. You were thrown into being royalty which is nice and all but that should have been a choice. I am not getting a Kinect just to play this game forget it. It doesn’t look all that great.

      Yeah, but the only problem with that is that the last one wasn’t that good. In the franchise, Lionhead did best on Fable: The Lost Chapters. After that their games kinda fell a bit… Don’t get me wrong, I hope to whatever god you believe in that this game gets the company back into the swing of things… but honestly, I’m not holding my breath.

      Unlike the previous games, I’ll be buying this one after a few months of it being for sale, and only if it gets good reviews and the gameplay videos on youtube look interesting. I’ve almost given up on Lionhead. Hopefully this game can restore some faith… If not, I don’t know who I’ll look up to in this industry!

    The problem about the previous game fable 3 it takes about 7 hours to finish if you go hardcore. What i want for this game is to make shure it takes some time to finish. Also the first fable game was the best in my opinion i hope they bring back the jack of blades part of fable.

      You do realise you could just, ykno, stroll around doing loads of other shit? I played through the game only the first time. Took me like 5 hours. Then, afterwards, I’ve been playing a lot for shits a giggles. Doing loads of other things etc.
      Just like I did with Fable 2, which also took me about 5 hours to finish. I’m pretty sure they won’t force you through a storyline if you don’t wanna go there yet.

      So, just ’cause you dislike Kinect, you won’t do it? I think the Kinect part of fable will make it even easier to not just play, but also feel every damn thing as if you’re doing it yourself. You’ll just get even more dragged into the game. Also, do you have any idea how boring it gets to just press buttons? What if Kinect makes it even more fun? Sure, I didn’t appreciate the idea when I first saw this many months ago, but hey, how the fuck could we know? Shouldn’t we trust that they’re doing their job as well as they already have several times?
      After all, what the heck do we know compared to the game makes of an amazing game series, eh?

      Don’t forget the fact that they’re actually trying to make money out of this, and they’ll give it their best shot. If they just did loads of crap and ruined everything, everyone would give it bad reviews and people would figure they shouldn’t play the damn game, resulting in the creators not making as much money as they could.

      I’ve said it, and I’m saying it again: They’re probably making it as good as they can. Of course, you don’t follow the blood line, anymore, it seems, which I hate, but fuck it. They’ve made one mistake. Let’s not try to make everything they do mistakes.

    I’m still waiting for Fable 2 for PC. It’s kind of sad that I’ve played Fable: TLC and Fable III and loved both games, but have yet to play Fable II because I refuse to ever purchase an Xbox 360, because I don’t play consoles anymore. I’m basically missing an entire chapter in the Fable saga. Journey’s looks decent, but if it doesn’t come out for PC, I won’t be too surprised.

    After years of playing the Fable franchise I don’t see my self buying this game when it comes out, it’s not the Fable I know. RPG games are not made for the Kinect and from what I have seen in previous games, Fable is definitely an RPG franchise.

    I don’t see why people are getting so upset over this game. It’s a spin-off. Like Heroes. It’s not Fable 4. Everybody needs to calm down–they’re just experimenting and seeing what they can do and are trying to make Fable a series that’s fun for everybody. It’s what innovative companies do. Fable 3 wasn’t up to par, so they’re trying to make up for it.
    I, for one, like this idea. It gives us something Fable-related to play while we wait for the fourth game in the series.

        As for The Journey, I can understand that Lionhead is trying to broaden their player field, sure Kinect is nice and all, but then you loose those original controller gamers who are used to the originals. Sure the future of gaming might be all this motion sensitive stuff that started not long ago, but everyone has to jump on the band wagon with it. So it’s bound to happen. Fable: The Journey looks nice, the way it’s played is interesting, but I would prefer to see some more DLC for Fable III since they did mention something in Traitor’s Keep.

    i didnt play Fable 1 but i did enjoy Fable 2 and Fable 3…. im not understand why Fable: The Journey is Kinect only….i can personally say that i highly doubt that i will play it simply because its kinect only…please explain to me….i honestly dont seem any logic in this decision, what-so-ever…. and not to mention, there are going to be no range or melee weapons, that was one of the best things in fable 2 and 3, especially 3 (because you had to collect 50 legendary weapons), this game makes no fucking sense to me…

    The first Fable had personna, it wasnt just another hack and slash game. It actually had back bone with an actual plot and twists that you couldnt see coming. Lionhead is having some serious problems with recreating this, Fable II and Fable III had no back bone, just gadgets and guns. C’mon lionhead, this is “FABLE” not “Call of Duty”. Lets leave the gadgets with the shooter fans. Now I see another idea that they think is going to be magical…. cough, cough.

    Well I’m excited for Fable: The Journey. The Kinect is an awesome way to really make the player feel like a hero (or villain) and there just aren’t enough adventure games for it yet. Sure there’s Star Wars and voice commands in Skyrim, but a game “built from the ground up” for Kinect with Fable’s unique touch sounds very cool. Sure I agree that I’d rather shoot fireballs from my palms rather than a gauntlet and I’d rather not pay for multiple DLC’s to enjoy the whole game but I’m sure that Lionhead has good reasons for both of those and I trust them to deliver another great title.

    i’ve been a big fan of the fable series. i’ve played through all 3 games multiple times and was excited to hear that they were putting out a fourth, that is until i heard it was going to be kinect only. don’t get me wrong i’m glad to see that they are implimenting a new way to enhance the experience of the game but it would be nice to have the option to use either kinect and/or the controller. in my opinion i think that they will lose quite a few fans of the series for this simple reason. i’m sad to say that more than likely i will not buy this game unless the give us the option to play with kinect and/or the controller.  lionhead, you’ve really let us down with this ultimatum. stay true to the gamers that have been with the series from the original fable, don’t throw out the controller gameplay!!!!

    If you don’t want to play it, don’t play it, simple as. I personally do prefer the medieval theme, but I’m not gonna say this’ll be crap without even trying it just because it’s different! You can’t tell what something’s gonna be like before you try it, so why not just give it a go? I quite like the guns too tbh, because bows annoy me :/ but seriously so yeah, it’s different from the others, does that mean it’s not gonna be good? If the others are better then fair enough, lets tell them that and hope they’ll make them like the old ones, but without trying this one I don’t think it’s fair to start telling them what they should or shouldn’t make. Give it a go, people! And I think the kinect is a great idea, but if you dont like it then dont play it :/ Don’t start dissing it before you tried it though!

         that sucks for those that don’t have/can’t afford a kinect. My wife and I just recently got one, so i know how it feels to want to play umpteen games that require kinect, and not being able to.

        kinect is for people who dont play games. fable has come to be a “gamers” game. not lookin forward to not having another fable to buy. my neice owns a kinect she plays dance central on it… dance central….. i dont know anyone who will be buying this game, i played 3 with over 30 people….

            its not much to ask for, seriously. its just taking the time to listen to the fanbase. look at the numbers its obviously a huge difference. and my “fat friends” dont wanna buy it cuz they dont wanna play fable on it. most of them play kinect games but the idea of not being able to sit down during long game sessions makes even the most gifted “stud” feel like its too much. i play anywhere from 30-40 hours of games a week. im not gonna come home after work and do 6 more hours of running around when i wanna sit and accomplish a playthrough. its best explained as an rpg/action/adventure game. you level up a character your weapons and even perform fetch quests and explore an open world. its intended for long extended play times.

    this game was built for kinnect i for one am looking forward to it, and fable 4 will be more controller supported i just hope that peter realises that fable 3 was such a dissapointment, fable 2 was okay at the best but come on 500 years down the line from fable and tlc fill us in on what happened those 500 years obviously there where  heros, and how did scythe come about in fable tlc and who felled jack before he “returned” to albion cause im pretty sure someone kicked his masked ass please please PLEASE don’t dissapoint on fable 4 and lead everyone on with great sounding adds
    PS am i the only one who thought the road to rule was utter crap and prefered experience orbs red for stregnth, blue for mage and green for general please keep it that way i personally got confused i know it’s nit picky of me but thats how it was for years before fable 2 came out and then you removed it completely in fable 3 WHY?

    Maybe instead of a new game entirely, Lionhead could remake Fable TLC.  Have all the the things from the 2 and 3 such as, the graphics, the free roaming maps, Full on expansions, all the spells, the hard choices, the clothing selection from fable 2 with all the wacky dyes, either the damn gnomes or annoying Gargoyles, the purchasing of buildings and all that comes with it, and of course the “Emote” wheel for 2.  mixing all that into the Fable TLC i feel would be a seller. 
    Its just a thought.

    So it’s the end of the Black family blood line? Well, I think it shouldn’t be on Kinect cuz not all of the Fable gamers have Kinects. Also, I’m just hoping this one has a longer story than the last two. They both ended too quickly and had kinda sucky endings. But the graphics were awesome. Though I could have done without “The Road To Rule”

    i just got to say that fable 2 and 3 were nothing compared to the first and lost chapters, i personally think you should take the game back in time before the first fable and add thunder, jack, twinblade, and even guildmaster when they were younger and fight along with them and i think alot of people would aggree – 14 year old fable fan

    I like the Kinect. I think it’s a cool piece of technology with very interesting and fun applications. I am a hardcore gamer, and have been ever since I got my first system (a SNES at age 6). Obviously, some games made for the Kinect will be bad, just like there are bad games made for every single piece of gaming technology ever made. But people who are complaining that “the kinect sucks, therefore this game will suck” really have no idea what they are talking about. If the past Fable games have been good, who is to say this one won’t as well? Who is to say this won’t be one of the games that takes real advantage of the Kinect and makes something awesome out of it? I will admit that the Fable games have been getting steadily worse, but it’s better than holding out hope for some sort of action-y dance central.

    At any rate, I also think it’s stupid to make the Kinect REQUIRED. There are not enough good games out for it that enough people have it; from a business standpoint, it doesn’t make sense. Sales will be lost because some people do not have, or are not ready to accept, the new piece of technology that is required to play it. Obviously there will probably be some form of controller support, but it really shouldn’t be hard to have the Kinect be entirely optional, like it has been with almost every single non-Kinect specific game.

       Well, this game was made specifically for the kinect, and it looks like crap anyways.
      Just keep playing fable 3 until they release something worth playing.
      Maybe they will drop more fable three DLC or maybe an update or two.

    Lionhead needs to make more independent desicions, or it’ll fall apart like any other microsoft games corporates.  And only Xbox with Kinect?  Seriosly who thought it’s a good idea? Did you forget there are peope playing games at PC still more than at number any consoles? Another good idea from Microsoft?
    Though Fable and Fable : the lost chapters was the best lionhead games and still i have faith. I hope this group won’t gonna vanish with these decent designers.

    when this kinect only abomination comes out, it may very well be so costly with little to no profit from those of us who have played fable in the past, that it may kill the franchise. If not kill the franchise then quite possibly reduce fable to what COD and HALO became, casual gaming jokes.

    they should make this game availible to play either kinect or by controller. for people who are disabled or dont have the space to play this game could be their worst nightmare. i have always loved Fable but they really need to think this one through.

    I can’t wait this! I just don’t undertand why people didn’t like Fable 3? I thought it was greatest game of the Fable – series, graphix were unique and full sqreen, without any maps, just golden trail… I just hope that Journey will not go with trails, although Pete Molly said that it will NOT go with trails, but… Well, he has ”cheated” befofe, so… Well we will see it soon, at E3!

    I’m really hopeful that there’s some exploration that can be done in the dungeons. I imagined a control scheme that’s sort of a mix of haunts and rise of nightmares movement system where your foot being put in any direction would functions as a sort of movement mechanism so my moving my foot forward would move me in that direction and having your hand functions as the aiming and a sort of luminary spell during exploration parts which would take place before or after the ending of battles through the cave. This is what im hoping for on the Kinect front, as for those who are going to be sitting in chairs they could use the controllers joysticks for these areas.

    I am never buying another fable game again.
    I needed lionhead to fix the glitches in fable III, due to a bad DLC(Traitor’s Keep) that has caused many glithes in the game.  I have been unable to play areas and quests because of lionhead’s refusal to fix their broken and glitchy Fable III.  Lionhead churns out these games and we as consumers are left behind when
    lionhead is on to their next game in the fable series.  Burn me once ok, but not
    twice.

    LOVED Fable 2 and 3. Good fantasy and I laughted my butt off throughout both games (didn’t play Fable 1). Sadly, with Fable: The Journey being an exclusive Kinect game, I’ll not be playing it. I have the money, but refuse to justify buying the Kinect, something that I’m simply not going to use, for this one game. I’d MUCH rather have Fable:TJ be a regular XBox360 game…okay, make it Kinect compatible, but let me use my controller while sitting in my recliner.

    I’m a big fan of this series but I have to admit seeing this one I’m certain I am not going to be buying it. I give you guys credit for trying something so different but to completely move away from what made the game so great is a huge risk. I hope the best for you but I really don’t see this one becoming much more than a disappointment.

    Hey Lion Head, a word of advise I am a huge fan of your fable series, and have played it since the first Fable game, your games are going down hill, Fable was awesome, Fable the lost chapters was the best, but then Fable two was a disappointment, Fable three was a huge disappointment and a lot of promises was made that where not in the game and now Fable the journey just turns me away from the whole Fable series, if there is going to be a Fable four please look at the first Fable game and consider what made it the best game ever.
