Hello, this is a post for those who might be looking to play B&W but do not know how, or those who simply need a network to play in.So, been a long time since you have played black and white and want to return to playing online but you can't?Or perhaps you have been wondering what hamachi network has players that still play.Well this should be the post for you.
Hamachi is a program that emulates a local area network connection, in other words your PC will think you are in a network with other people that are connected to your network.
There are plenty links to get it, however, try not to get the Hamachi 2 version, it has certain incompatibilities with older versions and also shows you as online after you close your computer without powering hamachi off manually.
I would recomend using one of these links just to be sure:

Now, well.. first thing to do would be to join a network in order to play with other players.Don't know any? well that's one of the reasons I made this post.
A little word of caution: Creating a network for B&W shouldn't be done on impulse, unless you really want to administer it for a long time..If you just want to play you should just join one of those listed below.
Well, first of all you should check to see if your firewall is turned on, if it is, try turning it off while you play, or add Black And White to the exceptions list.

Then you may need to go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections -> (now look up where you have file edit etc) Advanced -> Advanced settings
Now you should see hamachi in the first list, select it and press the up arrow until it's at top.And now people should be able to join you.
Perhaps you could try to post about it on this forum, or talk to someone that plays B&W in one of those networks I specified.
This is legit, I play B&W often with those networks. I hope to see you all there.

These ports apparently need to be forwarded for everything to work properly, I will test them when I get the chance.
This information may be required if you are behind any type of firewall that will only accept port numbers for exceptions and not program paths/filenames.
I myself am behind a wireless router hence the time spent trying to figure this out.

<bump> not trying to gain posts- This is sort of important for people that want/need to keep firewalls up and still play.Actually just got through some slight testing with Emplear (aka GodEmpirior).He was able to connect to a game I hosted. This was with a third player as well.Anyways, after the match we tried another, but I attempted to join his game. He has a router up that he doesn't have access to so I expected to get "Could not connect to remote machine." message, and I did. What I didn't expect was Black and White to assume that failed connection as impossible through either host because of this. So I'm going to try and reset black and white, hopefully closing and reopenning will do the trick.
Just wondering why you posted here not in the dedicated MP section.

Seems to me that you would discourage some/ most from joining your "network"

Being that the game is so dead I figure it better to be on the general forum rather than MP.
It is very possible that you will have to open your Networks Settings and move the Hamachi Network to the top of the list. Like so:
Start Menu->Connect To->Show all connections->Advanced (at the top)->Advanced Settings->Select Hamachi and press the green arrow pointing upwards until it's at the top.
Someone told me that if Hamachi is not at the top players might not be able to host.I hope this solves your problem.
Which game is this one on? Black & White 2? Or just Creature Isles?

Black and White 2 doesn't have multiplayer built into the game by any means.
Not to say that some aren't trying to find a way, but I do say that it's highly unlikely.

Yea Ive been trying to get Black and White to work properly again since Windows XP Im now on Vista. I keep having a problem with the save games and my alignment and God symbol constantly resetting to neutral. Is there anything else I can do without installing Black and White on a windows 2000 partition? I have tried everything to get the game to work properly - installed patches, cleaned the registry, run in 98 compatibility as administrator, installing it in another folder in the Harddrive etc. and even tried playing the game on other XP and Vista computers. Ive even downloaded the game to see if it was a problem with my disk but it isnt. I REALLY want to be able to play Black and White 1 again properly and join the new multiplayer community - I have loved this game since I was a kid and really want to play it online and with all the extra options.
How do I register to play black and white in the Hamachi network people now play online on??
If anyone has any advice to get this game working again I would be incredibly grateful. I really want to play this game again!!
yea ive tried everything to connect and play - i cnat join th servers since theyre full 24/7 =/
are there other realms up? why on earth did lionhead take down the online play . Bnw was/is a classic they shouldnt drag such iconic games down just for maintenance cost, which im pretty darn sure aint much compared to 9 years ago.

This may seem stupid, but how in the rumbling earth and heaven do you actually HOST a game? As far as I see this post only tells you how to join a session, but not a damn word about making one! I have my Hamachi set up perfectly, and I even have my own network, which I used with my friends for a multitude of games, it works, but could someone tell me how to Host a Black and White game!? I see no option for hosting in the game, only for joining one. What is it, that I must do, or get to be able to host a game? Is there a program for that, or you can do it from ingame? Help, it annoys the hell outta me! Thanks!
I know this post is almost 2 months old...But I need to know, does anyone use hamachi anymore? I tried these servers and they're always full, which means to me that everyone has joined it but always offline. Are there any others with active members? Online play is the only thing i need to complete my black and white experience.

It's full because there is ppl offline, while joined. So i think it's useless to use hamachi in this thread, but all you gotta do is make your own server and ask someone to join it, and not thru forum i think.... irc or some else meet up place where to pick up players realtime, if someone likes to create irc servers, and leave instructions at forum in new thread i think it's possible to get some multiplayer games up.
atleast i would come and check it out.
edit : Someone needs to manage this irc server AND hamachi server.... if someone with spare time in his hands would do this, we could get even active community.
and i don't know how long multiplayer game lasts... i have only played few times online and never finished a game, so i quess it would take more than 1 hour, don't know about pro players then.
Am starting to get really mad at the hamachi the servers r always full and no one will let me join am a beginner at this and I try the B&WBeginners but I got band from the server for no reason the guy who runs that is a real *** AND!!! the password for to go online for black and white keeps saying that the password is not correct over and over and over again I tried every thing and and nothing works its really ticking me off this is really is a waste of my time the program is a crap so am going to uninstall it and forget all about it *** you and have nice day.
