Captain Dread has made a deal with the port cities: They pay him for protection, and he doesn’t raid them. It’s a neat and tidy arrangement, all agree, except for one man, Reaver, the daring outlaw blessed with eternal youth, who refuses to cede his hometown of Bloodstone.

Nice to see how valuable your UK fans are to you now, Lionhead.  Thanks for the detailed info!

    • LionheadStudios

      UK links are coming…

  • Drakinian

So… who else thinks that Jack of Blades will be meeting Ben Finn?

    • Jadis232

That wouldn’t make sense. JoB was around and defeated about 550 years before Ben was even born.

      • Drakinian

So? And what makes you think that Jack of Blades hasn’t been living a “quiet” life for 550 years? It is possible… lets not forget that this plays after his defeat…

        • Jadis232

Maybe because hiring a bunch of mercenaries, burning down a town and enslaving its people isn’t exactly “living the quiet life”. If Jack was to make a return, he and Lionhead would have made it more meaningful and epic. And where does it say it plays after his defeat? Your basing that on assumption my friend ;-)

          • Drakinian

And where does it say it plays before his defeat from Fable TLC? ;) I assume that if that were the case, they would have said “The people of Albion are Safe. The court of Blades has been slain” . But they are only talking about Jack, so that leaves some room for interpretation. As for living a quiet life… why do you think I wrote that between quotation marks :) . And besides, only leading a group of mercenaries and enslaving a town would be quiet for him, compared with destroying the world and such ;)

          • Jadis232

Because Jack was the last of the Blades to be defeated. And if I’m not mistaken that happened a little time after the first two court members. But like I said it dosent make sense for him to come back now. He could have come back in 2 when the spire was built, or between 2 and 3, or even during 3 when the crawler attacked Albion. Those would have been his best opportunities for taking over the world again, but instead he just hired some thugs and raided a small town? Yea highly doubtful.

          • Drakinian

no, actually, Jack was the first of the Blades to be defeated, first the Jack, then the Knight, then the Queen. And perhaps he just wants to play safe this time? Afraid of being taken down by another hero?

          • Jadis232

Actually your wrong, the knight was the first to die, and then Jack was next. However, he put his essence into his mask and escaped into the void. The queen was the last to die, but technically Jacks soul was still alive. And Jack isn’t human, he doesn’t show emotion and he doesn’t fear anything, he only craves power. He wouldn’t hide in some town and he definitely wouldn’t be defeated by Ben Finn of all people.

          • Drakinian

Yes, but perhaps Jack is at least a bit smart. He has been defeated twice, so he might just want to wait for a better chance… when there are no heroes involved… and perhaps he’s trying to regain his power in that village :/

And who said that Ben Finn would defeat him ;)

Lionhead make it meaningful and epic? I’m sorry but they haven’t really done that since the second game, and that one was argue-able. They’re selling games off the “Fable” name, even though they don’t play like “Fable” games anymore.

They’re probably taking this route because it has (apparently) worked for other series’ as well. “Crysis” had a few comics that explained where the characters that were a main part of the first one went, “Halo” had a few books, apparently one of them made ALOT of hints to master chief returning before Halo4 was announced, “Dragon Age” has had a few books & a movie which apparently carry on “alternate timelines”.

In other words, they want more money, but don’t want to take the time and effort to make another game, so they’re going to go this route.

          • Lauren Hart

Peter David is an independent author who has written many comics and books before turning his attention to the Fable universe.  These books are not creations of Lionhead, but as a fan I think it’s brilliant they opened up the universe to allow someone to add to the stories.  I understand a lot of people have been upset with the route the Fable games have taken, but no one is ever forced to buy them and there are still a lot of us who enjoy what Lionhead are doing and what they are about.

I am a bit disappointed that because Peter David is American the US get the books first, but I’m hoping we will have them in the UK soon.  :)

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mick-Mickey-Mickers-Myers/100000901211251 Mick Mickey Mickers Myers

Pay attention to the story? Jack isn’t one person. “He” is actually the mask, possessing anyone that wears it. This would take off of the one of two endings where you decided to wear the mask at the end of Lost Chapters, and carry on as Jack. The mask passes on every time he’s defeated / person before him dies. Ben Finn could very well meet “Jack” because of this.

        • Jadis232

1st of all yes I do pay attention to the story so check the tude ;-) So Jack is deciding to reveal himself now your saying? Not when the Spire was built or the Crawler was attacking Albion? Those would have been Jacks best opportunities at taking over the world which is exactly what he wants. So saying he came back only to destroy a town is kind of foolish. :-)

jack of blades cant be dead anyway…. he was there at the begining…. he should be there at the end in some form of annother :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mick-Mickey-Mickers-Myers/100000901211251 Mick Mickey Mickers Myers

Also, Theresa was still around in Fable 3, so it’s obviously possible that Jack could be around as well too.

No jack of blades is killed but if your hero from the first one dons the mask, the hero of Albion could be the new jack of blades
      ^_^

I just love Fable, nothing else has its perfect balance between the ridiculous and the serious, from small fable to legendary epic, fable has it all. the history is beautiful. the story is beautiful. the scenery is beautiful. every little bit beautiful. game play and all. beautiful and more :)

  • Liam Cocks

so instead of making better games that include Jack and reaver they go and make books that explain them?
Imo they should just explain those characters in the games,it’s not that hard many MANY games can have deep story while explaining also characters really deeply

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tyler-Jay-Collier/775319882 Tyler Jay Collier

Fable wouldv been better off as books in the first place, without the shitty games

    • Jane Marple

why are you even here if you hate them so much? God go hate on someone else, Fable is incredible.

  • Jane Marple

Ah hell, didn’t he do enough damage writing the first two atrociously bad Fable books? Now you’re going to let him further malign Lionhead Studio’s wonderful characters?  Find a decent author and you’d have something!  What a pity, putting Albion into words could have been incredible in the right hands instead of a hack writer who butchers the characters and ideas of Fable.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bwschweitzer Benjamin William Schweitzer

I just want a quest where I kill Reaver in a Fable game?
